A New Cation‐Ordered Structure Type with Multiple Thermal Redistributions in Co <sub>2</sub> InSbO <sub>6</sub>

Cation ordering in solids is important for controlling physical properties and leads to ilmenite (FeTiO3) LiNbO3 type derivatives of the corundum structure, with ferroelectricity resulting from breaking inversion symmetry latter. However, a hypothetical third ABO3 derivative R32 has never been observed. Here we show that Co2InSbO6 recovered high pressure new, ordered-R32 A2BCO6 variant structure. also remarkable showing two cation redistributions, (Co0.5In0.5)2 CoSbO6 then variants ordered-LiNbO3 structure on heating. The distributions change magnetic as final product sharp ferrimagnetic transition unlike initial phase. Future syntheses metastable at are likely reveal other cation-redistribution pathways, may enable materials be discovered.
